My kiln is a totally custom construction. It used to be a gas/electric hybrid. But that is a lllooonnnggg and expensive story. In it's current manifestation, it is a 60 amp, TouchnFire controlled (which I love), standard looking electric kiln. However, my controller is mounted on the outside of my kontainer. I have the cheapest 15 amp TouchnFire controller that I use to switch 60 mercury relays on and off. Actually, I use the same controller for my three kilns. In the picture below, you see the TouchnFire controller which controls the relay box below it, that does the work of providing power to the kiln. The black cable is the power going to the mercury relays and the greenfield (grey) conduit is the power going to the kiln. Notice that the relay box is plugged into the side of the controller. The two black circles are fans that I will show you in detail shortly. The brown vents are simply residential heat registers that allow me to put air into the kontainer which is ultimately vented outside.

Notice too, that the kontainer is off the floor. It is sitting on some evenly space IFB.

You can return to the number photos or you can go back to the previous detail or go forward to the next numbered detail.
