This June and July, I will have seven wonderful pots going up to auction. These three pictured will be going through Cincinnati Art Galleries' "Rookwood XII and Keramics 2002" auction that takes place June 1st and 2nd in Cincinnati.

The first piece is one of my large (the largest?) Arts and Crafts shaped "Snow Falling on Aliums" pots. I am guessing it is about 10"high and 10" wide. Click on the pot to enlarge to actual size.

I got a little carried away writing the history of this piece on the bottom. I do that occasionally. Can't pass those big white bottoms up when I have something to say about the piece. The info on the bottom of this one pretty well tracks where it has been since I made it.

The second piece is the biggest- about 11", I think- and best Wisteria Pot I have made to date. Whoops, almost forgot to tell you. I have sold three of wisteria pots, but as of today, my wisteria pots are only available through auction. Why? I know my pots will start turning up at auction and regardless of what they do when they sell- high or low- I do not want to be selling similiar pots a week or two later. So I have decided to sell certian lines only at auction. I have one other "line" of pots that also will only be sold at auction. But you will have to keep scrolling through these auction information pages to see which pot I am talking about.

So the second piece CAG will auction is this one. Again, click on it to enlarge.

It is a big drippy, lusious pot. And it is glazed on the inside- though loosely- like it is on the outside. I have made about nine of these wisterias in different sizes but with the same glaze. I don't know if I will be using these glazes again. I think these pots are beautiful. But when I took them to Zanesville in 2001, people didn't like them. I sold one! Where I thought they would all sell quickly. Well, I brought them back home, reglazed them, fired them again and made drippier and more lusious. I think they are great pots, what can I say?

The third pot is possibly the best dragonfly pot I have made. It's a big one- 9 or more inches tall- glazed in my "jade" glaze. It is the last, or second last, dragonfly pot of this design that I will part with. Other people may sell theirs, who knows? If you want possibly the best one, this is it. Click on it to enlarge to actual size.

These are three of my best. And all of them combined will sell for less than a mediocre piece of Rookwood. Makes you think, doesn't it? It should. It's not just about the money. Look at the beauty. One of a kind. When I talk like that, I want to buy them myself!
